LPG To Avoid Congestion Tax
New proposals from the Greater London Authority aim to introduce congestion charges for vehicles entering the city centre - but LPG powered cars and vans are likely to be among the environmentally friendly vehicles excluded from the tax.
Anti-Tax Campaign Backs Autogas.
An Internet and email campaign to encourage motorists to boycott petrol stations once a week in protest at the high taxation levels on petrol and diesel recommends LPG as the clean alternative to the higher priced fuels.
Currently receiving the support on the national press, the independent body running the campaign goes by the name of Boycott The Pumps and follows a similar campaign in the USA. It claims that 84% of the cost of a litre of petrol is tax and asks drivers to stay away from the forecourts on the Monday of each week.
On it's website, the organisers state: "LPG is the cleanest fuel but the government aren't actively trying to get you to convert".
LDV Vans switch to LPG.
A contract worth £2m has been secured by Tickford Vehicle Engineering to build LDV's new bi-fuel Convoy vans and buses.
LDV is well known for it's wide range of light commercial vehicles and the bi-fuel models will carry LDV's full vehicle warranty. They are being built at Tickford's new assembly facility in Daventry, Northants.
